Trend Report: Peplum Dresses

In the spirit of our mad hunts to find the perfect New Year’s Eve look, I decided to showcase an old party dress trend that’s having a resurgance. Peplum dresses, which have a ruffle around the waist, have come back into style, and would be perfect for NYE.
No matter how you wear it, peplum gives off a flirty, feminine vibe. Even the street style look above is sophisticated and a little bit retro-girly. However, this look can also go wrong if the proportions are off – it’s key for peplum frocks to be tailored all over to balance out the bulk of the major ruffle.
Although proponents of this trend argue that only slim women can pull off this look, I beg to differ. Remember when Jennifer Hudson looked absolutely stunning in a Victoria Beckham peplum dress? It seems as if drawing attention to the waist would be counterproductive, but when I think about it, I’ve never seen peplum look unflattering.
Personally, I think this would be a fabulous look to wear on New Years. If you found the perfect peplum dress in a shiny material, I think it would be sophisticated and too cute for words!

WTF Fill In The Blanks: T.I. Took This Unsexy Sweaty Nude Shot For ______ Because ______

T.I. has officially lost what little bit of sex symbol status his tiny self had.
There is absolutely nothing attractive about this picture. He looks like he’s copping a squat in the hoods. And you see how small the star is covering his man parts.
What possessed T.I. to take this picture??? And who do you think he sent it to?LMAOOOOO

“Last Train To Paris” Isn’t Exactly Raking In That Dirty Money

Last week, Diddy was all proud that his heavy promo convinced 100,000 people to go pick up Last Train To Nowhere. This week? Not so much.

The album dropped from number 7 to number 44 on the Billboard Hot 200 charts, after moving roughly 30,000 copies in week two. It’s gonna be a slow crawl to Platinum for Dirty Money.

But it’s not all bad news for Urban music.
The week’s highest new entry comes from Jamie Foxx’s “Best Night Of My Life,” which parties it up at No. 6 with 144,000. It’s Foxx’s third straight set to see a late December release, following “Unpredictable” (issued on Dec. 20, 2005) and “Intuition” (Dec. 16, 2008). The latter set opened at No. 3 with 265,000 while the earlier album climbed in at No. 2 with 598,000 (before hitting No. 1 the week following).

Eminem’s “Recovery” is right behind Foxx, flying 15 rungs to No. 7 with 137,000 (up 100%). It benefits from sale pricing in the iTunes Store and also zips 15-1 on the Digital Albums chart with a whopping 513% jump in sales.

Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday” stands at No. 8 for a second week, selling 133,000 (up 36%).

Keyshia Cole’s “Calling All Hearts” is the list’s second biggest debut, starting at No. 9 with 128,000. Her last album, “A Different Me,” was released, coincidentally enough, on the same day as Foxx’s last effort, on Dec. 16, 2008. “Different” launched at No. 2 with 322,000, one step ahead of “Intuition’s” 265,000. Both albums were blocked from No. 1 that week by the woman who reigns this week: Taylor Swift. Her “Fearless” set was in its third non-consecutive week atop the list, selling 330,000.

Closing out the top 10 on the Billboard 200 is Rihanna’s “Loud,” climbing one spot to No. 10 with 111,000 (up 33%). Right behind her at No. 11 is the debut of Keri Hilson’s sophomore effort “No Boys Allowed” with 102,000. Hilson’s first release, “In a Perfect World,” debuted and peaked at No. 4 in April of 2009 with 94,000.

Jay-z is the true definition of “Big Pimpin’”…

Must be nice!

Hot Trends: Nail Ring/Armor

Fashion always repeats itself but when it comes back around, it’s improved tremendously. This new trend is taking 3D nail art to a whole new level! Have you seen or heard about nail rings?

It’s a gold or silver plated nail ring that fits over your finger and nail. It’s thin enough so you can shape it to fit perfectly. You can even get finger armor (pictured below) that covers your entire finger and fingernail. This is definitely an eye catching accessory! Celebs such as Beyonce, Fergie, Kelly Rowland, Eve, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Kim Kardashian have worn the trend and they are all clients of Bijules NYC.

Caftan Queen~Emilio Pucci Fringed Silk Caftan

Feast your eyes on Emilio Pucci‘s Fringed Silk Caftan. No words.
Cultivated in a sea of vintage-esque, ethereal offerings, this dreamlike dress is everything to me. Multicolored in magenta and paisley embroidery with three-quarter draping sleeves, a keyhole cutout and rounded hem, it flawlessly captures my favorite seventies aesthetic, calling to mind Bianca Jagger, Anita Pallenberg and many other of my cherished style muses.

Availability: Emilio Pucci Fringed Silk Caftan ($5895). For retailer information, visit Emiliopucci.com.

How to Wear....(Faux) Shearling

Sherling is one hot look for fall. This cozy-comfortable fabric will keep you warm and toasty in the winter months, all while looking ultra-trendy.
If you are a lover of UGGs, you have already incorporated this trend into your closet. But this chic trend spans far beyond UGGs and, this season, was mostly seen on aviator jackets, paired with leather/faux leather, or on high-heeled booties.
Shearling can easily be worn with a skinny jeans-and-boots combination or a fun party dress (like Alexa Chung, pictured above). But whatever way you choose wear the look, shearling details will make you look cutting-edge. Here are a few examples....
