Finger Lookin' Good

Can I say hip, hip, hip?  Celebrities from Paris Hilton to Rihanna are wearing fingerless gloves!  They are not just for bikers or rockers & not just about function but rather about fashion.  And how about finger mobility?  Now you can text with these on.  Nice!

Pair them with an elegant party dress like Paris Hilton to add that sexy edginess.  Put on your favorite nail polish and complete the look by adding accessories.

Check out these black leather fingerless gloves -- they're studded (studs are the new EVERYTHING!), and they're just $23 at ASOS.com.

Whether you’re evoking Denise Huxtable’s Bohemian vibe, nostalgic for Lisa Turtle’s bright neon élan, or have a penchant for Dionne Davenport’s preppy swagger, Urban Rock Glamour has modernized their on screen styles for you. Let’s take a look:

Lisa Turtle:

If you loved the neon of the early ’90′s, you can follow Lisa’s lead in bright print dresses layered under more contemporary boyfriend blazers. If you’re too shy for full on patterns, go for a subtle outfit, stacking on technicolor bracelets or funky, chunky earrings:

Denise Huxtable:

This unsung fashionista made waves on the Cosby Show, rocking harem pants with confidence before their recent resurgence on runways. Bring her look to life in menswear inspired button downs and hats–sauce it up for fall in tall ankle boots and over the top accessories

Dionne “Dee” Davenport:

Black Mary Janes and pleated skirts are wardrobe classics, making it easy to channel Dee from the 1995 cult film Clueless. Go for uber preppy yet modern with pearls, stud earrings, and a Burberry check headband (knee high socks are optional)

Hilary Banks:

Primetime’s original Daddy’s Girl can live on today in black bouclé jackets set off by gold chunky bracelets and flower pins. Slip on a hat for true Fresh Prince of Bel-Air flair, or make your look ‘bankable’ in peep toe patent pumps.

Isabel Coates:

Stunt like a true Gossip Girl in Houndstooth coats toned down by black pencil skirts and demure headbands. Up the ante by adding a bright colored tote and patterned heels, keeping jewelry to a minimum.

How to Rock the Polka Dots Trend This Winter

Source: Style.com | Jaeger London, House of Holland, Dolce & Gabbana, Marni)

Listen up, all you Minnie Mouses and vintage vixens- polka dots are back! And they’re going to be hot well into spring, so stock up on this pretty print now. Not sure if polka dots are right for you? Or unsure of how to wear them? Well stop your worrying friends, I’m here to straighten you out and show you the bauble-paved way.

How to Rock Polka Dots for Nights Out

If you thought polka dots were too cutesy for a night out, you have another think coming! Despite their flirty demeanor, these pearly white dots can be just as sexy as lace.

A great example of a sexy way to wear polka dots is this navy blue cutout dress. It hugs your curves in all the right ways, and shows off your back! The cut of the dress gives off an edgy fashion-forward look to offset the classic pattern. I added even more edge by pairing it with two classic pieces: a rocker-chic leather jacket and a pair of black round toe pumps. If you’re facing colder weather, I suggest pairing this outfit with one or two layers of tights as well as some sweaters or cardigans under a leather jacket – but for my example I tried to keep it simple.

How to Rock Polka Dots on a Date

In my humble opinion, polka dots are the perfect date night pattern. They exude a certain classy-yet-flirty girlyness that’s never over-the-top. Anywho, to get this look, I first picked out a soft yellow tank top and paired it with a super cute polka dot skirt. Depending on the weather and time of day, it may be cold, so I also found a sheer dandelion yellow cardigan to wear over your shoulders indoors.

Still cold? Pop on a faux fur trimmed cardigan, and for even more warmth, throw on a white coat like the one I chose. To up the cuteness factor, I also added some adorable tassled saddle shoes. Finally, to complete the look, I found this wonderfully dreamy floral headband that you can wear traditionally or hippie-esque around your forehead – your choice!

Overall, this look is flawless, and a surefire way to show your suitor that you’re the perfect blend of sugar and sass.

How to Rock Polka Dots on Campus

Your on-campus wardrobe should be three things: layerable, fashionable, and most importantly comfortable. And that is exactly what comes to mind when I look at this outfit.

To start off the look, I found the greatest polka dot cardigan in the world – in two equally gorgeous shades. Since gray and black are neutrals, you can match either cardigan with practically anything! Blues, browns, greens, reds- whatever color you want, pair them with polka dots and you can’t go wrong.

To add said color, I picked out a beautiful green blouse and paired it with some seriously comfortable jean-leggings (aka jeggings -I love these!). For your feet, I found a great pair of brown oxfords, and finally for your neck, I found an autumnal orange scarf to keep you warm. Lastly, I picked out a cute puff ball beanie and toggle coat to wear on top for extra protection from the winter winds.

Riri on the cover of GQ

The cover star of the January 2011 issue of British GQ, Rihanna is still thinking about her past relationship with Chris Brown. Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

“Sometimes when you’re on the inside of a relationship like that, you can’t see it clearly for what it is. I left – it was the best feeling. It was so freeing…I witnessed it happening to my mum and I said I would never let that happen to me – and then it was happening. Now, when I look back, it bugs me out that I couldn’t see it for what it was.”

Hot or Not? Kayne West Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Would You Wear? Winter Shorts

Winter shorts have been popping up everywhere, worn by everyone from style bloggers to celebrities. This is the perfect week to try out a pair! They can be really dressy and festive when styled correctly, and are a great alternative to the usual jeans or leggings for this time of year.

Tips & Tricks for Rocking Shorts in the Winter

  • Take inventory before you shop. You might already own a pair of shorts that will work just fine in the winter time. Look for styles made of a heavy fabric, or a dark or muted color. You can also go in the opposite direction, like Olivia Palermo does above, and rock light shorts with a dark ensemble.
  • Try wearing tights underneath. Tights will make shorts more season-appropriate, without the bulk of leggings.
  • If you’re feeling bold, try shorts with thigh-high socks or boots. As long and the thinnest part of your thigh is the part that’s exposed, you will look chic and proportional.
  • Leather or sequined shorts are more versatile that you think. Dress them up with ankle boots, a blazer, or a cardigan, or dress them down with a t-shirt, denim jacket, and flat boots.

Outfit Inspiration

Outfit 1: Daytime Casual

This outfit is a little bit preppy and a whole lot of fun! It’s perfect for a daytime event or class when you want yourself to stand out. Tweed shorts are perfect for any afternoon, and when paired with high boots, they become fashion-forward. You can also add tights for a more conservative look. Now all that’s left to do is pull on a classic cardigan, and finish with pearl studs and a girly headband.

Outfit 2: Dressy Night Look

This outfit is perfect for a party or a night on the town. Tone down the sparkle of the sequined shorts with a plain white t-shirt, a black boyfriend blazer, and matte black tights. Finish the look with a fun necklace and sexy ankle boots.

Outfit 3: Edgy and Urban-Chic

Sometimes, wearing something a little edgy and “model off duty”-esque is just what you need to break out of a style rut. Style bloggers have been rocking leather (or faux leather) shorts lately, and they look great with a shredded sweater and combat boots. Finish off the outfit with patterned tights, a chain necklace, and fedora.

Rihanna Joins Nicki Minaj on Stage for “Fly”, Plus Keyshia Cole, Drake, Kanye West & More

Last night, Rihanna joined Nicki Minaj on stage to perform “Fly” for the first time at Hot 97′s special Thanksgiving Concert. Rihanna, whose vocals were pretty much on point throughout the song, unexpectedly grabbed Nicki Minaj’s assets before leaving the stage.

Other surprises included Drake, who proclaimed his love for Nicki with an on stage kiss (“I muthaf*ckin love this girl”), Busta Rhymes (for Roman’s Revenge (remix)”  Keyshia Cole (for “I Ain’t Thru”) and Kanye West who appeared during “Monster”. Fabolous opened the show and brought out the likes of Lloyd Banks and Juelz Santana.

Fashion Inspiration: Disney Villains – Ursula

Although Disney Villains aren’t exactly role models, they do tend to be inspirational when it comes to fashion. Even the amazing makeup label MAC found them inspiring, releasing a Disney Villains-inspired makeup collection. So as requested by many of you, over the next few weeks, I’ll be breaking down fashion inspired by these wicked characters.

About Ursula

Ursula, the Sea Witch, is an evil sorceress who longs to possess the powers of King Triton. When she finds out the king’s youngest daughter, the mermaid Ariel, is in love with a human, Prince Eric, she recognizes a chance to gain control of the throne. Ursula tricks Ariel into making a bargain with her: She will give Ariel human legs for three days in exchange for Ariel’s beautiful voice. If Ariel can get the prince to kiss her within those three days, she can be human forever, but if not, she owes Ursula her soul.

Desperate for a chance with the prince, Ariel takes this deal and becomes human. Despite her lack of a voice, things go very well between Ariel and the Prince. Of course, Ursula does not like this. To tip the odds back in her favor, Ursula uses Ariel’s voice, transforms herself into a beautiful human girl named Vanessa, and woos the Prince. He agrees to marry her on Ariel’s third day as a human.

Ariel and her sea friends do everything they can to stop the wedding, and they succeed when the shell necklace containing Ariel’s voice falls from Ursula’s neck, exposing her true identity. Unfortunately, before Eric can kiss Ariel, the sun sets, meaning Ariel must give her soul to Ursula. As planned, King Triton agrees to give Ursula his power if she releases Ariel. With her new power, Ursula grows until she is enormous and conjures up a terrible storm and massive whirlpool to kill everyone. However, Prince Eric ultimately saves the day when he steers the ship straight into Ursula, leading to her death.

Poor, Unfortunate Soul

Ursula is shown throughout the movie wearing a tight black outfit that shows off her voluptuous figure. To create an outfit inspired by Ursula’s everyday look, I used a form fitting LBD, high heeled purple pumps, and, of course, a shell necklace like the one that held Ariel’s voice. I also used a gray feathery headband that is reminiscent of Ursula’s hair.

Ursula as Vanessa

When Ursula, as Vanessa, is getting ready for her wedding, she practices her singing voice while wearing a cream colored slip. To recreate this look, I used a simple dress, paired with a dark coat to match Vanessa’s hair color. I added an octopus ring to show that deep down, Vanessa is really still Ursula (even though Ursula is not an octopus, and actually only has 6 tentacles).

Taking Over the Ocean

With her newly acquired trident, Ursula really lights up the sea with her evilness. While sticking with Ursula’s usual color palette, for this look, I incorporated lots of materials that reflect light, such as a satin skirt, sparkly tights, and metallic gold earrings.
