Hot or Not?: Nicki Minaj Spiked Shoes On Ellen Degeneres

Nicki Minaj hit up the Ellen Degeneres show recently to perform “Moment For Life” as well as talk about her rise to fame. She wore a pair of eye-catching Christian Louboutin Bridget’s Back Spiked Booties that were a recent gift from Lil Wayne.

New Music: Kanye West & Jay-Z - H.A.M [Audio]

Kanye West and Jay-z released the first offering from their highly anticipated collaborative album “Watch The Throne” yesterday and critics are already dissecting the lyrics.

I can’t quite put my finger on why I can’t get into this song. Maybe it’s because the beat is so close to Rick Ross’s B.M.F (Same producer) but it also sounds like one of those songs that you play backwards to hear some sort of cryptic message that will make you want to go jump in a pot of holy water. I just expected something way hotter.

The GLAM submissions keep rolling in! Today we have Folake, a Urban Rock Glam reader and blogger from Beverly Hills, California:

The owner and editor of Style Pantry (www.stylepantry.com) says, “My style is very vintage and boho.” “I’d describe it as Three’s Company meets Woodstock with a modern twist. Lol.”

“My style definitely gives a strong nod to the 70s.”

Would you Wear?...... Stockings with Open Toe Shoes?

“What’s the rule on pantyhose and open-toe shoes?”

The short answer? Rock it.
Though I wouldn’t personally be as adventurous as Ms. Minaj with pink tights, I think wearing black or sheer stockings with peep or open toes is totally fine. Traditionally it’s a no-no and closed toes are preferred, but what else are you going to do with your open toed booties or suede peep toes in the winter?

Weekend Beauty Hot! or Not…: Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Tia Mowry-Hardrict, Jennifer Hudson, and More!

It’s the top of the week yet again, Glams! Hope you all had fabulous weekends! Celebs were out doing fabulous things like promoting their new videos, new TV shows, and new hair. Let’s take a look at the hair and makeup, shall we?

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj were photographed on the set of their new joint video “Fly”. I am on definitely on board with Rihanna’s new longer red hair with deep burgundy low lights. Her makeup is also very much on point (that purple eyeshadow makes her eye really pop). HOT!
Nicki looks cute in her green glitter liner and Barbie pink lip (likely her infamous Pink Friday collaboration with MAC). While the lashes aren’t exactly the first thing an everyday girl like us would pick up, they work for the animated rapper. HOT!
Then a slew of celebs were out for the 2011 Winter TCA Tour to talk about their new TV shows (and networks).

Wendy Raquel Robinson just gets better with age. She was banging back in the 90s on “The Steve Harvey Show” and has such a gorgeous glow and hotness about her now.

Rapper Trina was looking gorgeous in this Twitpic snapped by her pal and fellow rapperLudacris. She was helping promote his new liquor line. Love the hair and makeup. HOT!

Business mogul Angela Simmons was also spotted in a Twitpic. One half of Pastry showed off her new blond ‘do. I think the blond suites her. I’d love to see how she wears it out with her outfits.

And finally Jennifer Hudson was seen out at the Gem Awards this weekend. The singer is literally glowing—like she has a GE building inside of her or something. Her makeup and hair are just gorgeous. Go ‘head Ms. Hudson.

Kelly Rowland’s Rob Ector Photo Shoot

I was cruising on NecoleBitchie.com when I came across a flix from Kelly Rowland’s cute photoshoot with Atlanta based photographer Rob Ector. She said, “Can you please find this hot sweater?”
Like BeyonceKelly is a fan of Wildfox Couture, and wore the brand’s Love Potion No. 9 Crewneck sweater for the shoot:

The $178 cashmere blend sweater comes in white and black.
Though $178 isn’t quite a ‘steal’ it is somewhat affordable. If it’s beyond your budget, Wildfox also has tank and t-shirt versions of the sweater for $55 and $77 respectively. Get all versions here:

Nicki Minaj Covers V Magazine

Nicki Minaj continues to saturate your TV Screens, Airwaves and favorite publications. Her latest accomplishment is the upcoming cover of V Magazine’s Spring Preview 2011 Issue. She also sat down with E! Online on the set of “Fashion Police” recently and talked about her upcoming projects.

You just shot the music video for your next single “Moment 4 Life,” featuring Drake. What are you working on next?
We’re shooting the video with Rihanna for “Fly” this weekend. We’re going to save the world in more ways than one with the video and that’s all I can say about that… I love Ri-Ri! I mean, when she’s not grabbing my ass she’s a sweet girl.
Who are some of your favorite artists outside of hip hop?
I like everyone. I don’t listen to music based on genre. Like, I’ll hear a song and then I’ll live for that song for like months and I’ll be like, “Who the hell is that?” I listen to Taylor Swift. I like Coldplay. I listen to gospel a lot. I listen to anything that’s just beautiful music.
Would you do a song with Taylor?
Of course!
Personally, I think you should do a song with Lady Gaga, who you’ve been compared to in the past.
A lot of people say that to me! I’d definitely be open to it, yeah… I mean, Gaga is badass. Being compared to greats can never bother me.
What does all your success mean to you?
’m proud that women, female rappers that come in this game after Nicki Minaj can seeI that, you know what? There is a chance for you to sell just as much as the boys and to be recognized. And you don’t have to feel like, because you’re a female rapper, you going to not be recognized. And so for that alone, I’m proud. I’m happy.
Lastly, are you single?
Yes. I’m single and ready to mingle [laughs].

I was intrigued by a new brand out of DC called Fever Couture, and eagerly clicked the link to the line….only to find that the pretty tees were emblazoned with words like, “B*tch,” “Power of P*ssy,” and “F*ck Love.” The tees were cute, and the lookbook was on point, but the messages, frankly, made me blush.

How Do You Define Urban Fashion?

The New York Times recently profiled Ouigi Theodore, the owner of urban men’s brand Brooklyn Circus: Times writer Alex Williams talked to Ouigi (referred to as the Bearded Dandy of Brooklyn) about his clothing line and how he uses the brand’s sharp aestehtic to offer a new definition of what black street fashion should be Ouigi  said, “Our goal is to refine the image of urban AmericaMy dream is to see guys hanging on the corner in suits.” He continued, “Urban always had a style to it, a swagger… [but it also came with the negative stigma of] overuse of the ‘N’ word, the pants sagging,” he said, “…When I travel overseas, people see the way we dress and say: ‘You guys don’t listen to hip-hop. You’re not urban.’ Yes, we are.”

The Times’ fashion section also has a slide show called, “A New Fashion Image for Urban America”, that shows
Theodore and friends in super preppy Brooklyn Circus duds, playing chess and ironing shirts. One caption says,   “Mr. Theodore’s fashion quest… is to elevate a side of black urban culture that goes beyond the baggy jeans and sneakers that still define hip-hop.”

Celebs certainly know what they like! New Music: Chris Brown – Look At Me Now (feat. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes)

Chris Brown continues with his rap effort on yet another track, this one is called “Look At Me Now” featuring Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes and of course Busta Rhymes owns the beat. Busta Rhymes doesn’t get enough credit, how long has dude been rapping now? And he still sounds like a day one rapper, hasn’t lost his step.
Check out his new song:

Eva Marcille looking FABULOUS!!!

Eva Marcille was spotted getting loose in a fitted silver dress over the weekend as she partied in Vegas with friends. She had a lot to celebrate as she will be making her BET television debut next Tuesday on the new scripted show “Let’s Stay Together”. The show is executive produced by Queen Latifah and comes on shortly after the season premiere of  “The Game”.

Katy Stands Out In Betsey Johnson

I was delighted to see quirky Katy Perry back on form at the 2011 People’s Choice Awardslast night.
Normally we would frown upon anyone over the age of 14 wearing this type of look, but this Betsy Johnson Spring 2011 dress is soooo Katy.
The magenta and turquoise cutesy ball-gown was slightly modified as Katy opted to shorten it to make it a little less frou frou.
I love the addition of the turquoise waist band and the hot pink Casadei peep-toes to her retro look.

Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday Goes Platinum

After five weeks on the shelves, Pink Friday has officially sold one million copies. According to Nielson Sound Scan, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday album has been certified platinum.  Her album has also beat out Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” in sales each week since it’s first week release and he has currently sold just 30,000 more units than she has.

She tells MTV, “A part of me expected it, because I wanted it so bad, but I never saw all of this”. If you aren't one of the million who have it yet (legally) GET IT!! Congrats, Nicki!

Lil Wayne only likes "light skinned" girls? Is he serious?

I recently read a letter that a young woman wrote to blogger Necole Bitchie. If this is true it saddens me that people are so ignorant these days.

Via Bitchie Mail:

Destiny wrote:
My friend Tammy is a model she had a couple of photo shoots to go to in miami ..after going to her photoshoots we met up with mack maine from young money, he then took us to a hotel a couple of other girls were there and so was lil wayne, guda guda, lil chuckee, and birdman. My friend Tammy is light skin and me and my friend jessica are dark skinned chicks, when we entered the room guda guda was like “damn ya’ll pretty to be dark skin” and then wayne quoted a verse from one of his songs that said “Beautiful Black Woman i bet that b*tch look better red”.

I heard the song before and i was offended when i heard the lyrics i brushed my feelings off and forgot about what the gremlin said, but him saying it over again made me angry as hell, tammy was looking in shock and jessica was clearly upset ,so me being the outspoken person that i am i said Wayne your daughter is dark skin so why would u say such ignorance. he then said “my daughter is a dark skin millionaire thats the difference between her and u”. Is this fool serious?

I can tell he was very upset because i brought his daughter up but that is no excuse for what he said next he stated “MY daughter is the first and last dark skin child im having, the rest of my baby moms light skin chicks i even got an asian baby moms to make sure i have a daughter with good hair, too bad we had a son”, everybody start laughing and me and jessica stormed out of the room and some guys followed us saying “not everybody hate dark skin girls Young Money just allergic to Chocolate”, of course me and my girls cursed them out..

I will never buy or listen to young money songs again and the rest of the dark skin girls shouldnt buy them either! F*CKN JERK

New Video: Marsha Ambrosius – Far Away

Former Floetry songstress Marsha Ambrosius releases the video for her second single “Far Away” off of her new album “Late Nights and Early Mornings”. The video was created to raise awareness around bullying in the LGBT community. Marsha, who lost a friend to suicide, leaves this note at the end of the video:
Dear friends, every year over 1 million people commit SUICIDE. Some were bullied because of their SEXUALITY. I lost a friend to SUICIDE, and I’m asking all of you to support alternative lifestyles. Don’t put up with or join in with BULLYING. It’s time we become more aware in this WORLD. Take a responsibility to make a difference. So if my music can save one life, I’ve done my job.
This song is Beautiful!!!!

Kanye/Jay-Z Album Pushed Back

Kanye is known for his mouth--sometimes more so than his music.
The rapper's bold proclamation that he and Jay-Z's joint album, Watch the Throne, would be released 'next week' appears to be an empty promise. It was announced today (January 5) that the album won't see the light of day until March.
According to Fake Shore Drive, sources close to Kanye and Def Jam revealed that the album has an official release date: March 1st, 2011. But the album's first single is supposedly dropping on January 11th.
How can this album possibly be that impressive when it's being so obviously rushed?
